i speak in parentheticals

wear wry like a shroud

breathe your name

in quiet degeneration

i come apart.

i inhabit my limbs

shift underneath your

electric kiss

defibrillating

and i wake next to you

drugged with unconsciousness

surfacing from

our midnight motions

when i leave you

i am reborn

everything vivid

and startling

outside air shocks me

dawn stretches her

pink body and

grins, giddy

i ascend

as i drive

breathing in her

damp atmosphere

i speak in parentheticals

wear wry like a shroud

breathe your name

in quiet degeneration

i come apart.
